  Tenuta Maiano
Italy
Mauro Araneo and Stefano Nigi farm 15 hectares across Montespertoli and Scansano, in Tuscany. Fully organic, the vineyard benefits from near perfect growing conditions with long hours of sunshine and cooler nights. Grapes are hand picked in the cool hours, pressed quickly and fermented slowly. The vineyard is at an altitude of 300m above seal level and the clayey, schist soil is rich in fossils, which help provide extra structure and minerality to the grapes. They use traditional methods in their Chianti - using all 4 grape varieties - one of then white - to make an authentic wine that speaks of terroir and tradition. Every bottle is balanced, harmonious and packed with personality.
