Production Methods: Jose doesn’t mobilise the soil but cuts the grass and leaves it to mineralise and incorporate into the earth. He doesn’t use herbicides and fertiliser. Hand-harvested, soft pressing, cold decantation of the must; fermented in French oak; 12 months ageing in 300L French oak barrels with bâtonnage.

Special Features: Plantation North-South on a hilltop facing South, 60m above the River Sado valley. Estate noted for reviving rare Portuguese varieties and low-intervention winemaking. Influenced by the sea winds which are 30 km away to the West. Days are hot, nights are cool. Ph of the soil is around 7.5. Focus on rare Portuguese grapes.

Tasting Notes

Colour: Clear Citrine yellow with slight golden highlights

Nose: Citrus-driven (lemon, green apple, tangerine peel), with chamomile, dried herbs, wildflowers, subtle stone fruit and mineral notes

Palate: Dry and fresh, marked by vibrant acidity and firm texture

Length/Finish: Long, saline, with pronounced citrus and mineral persistence

Alcohol: 12.5%

Sulphites: Low
