The Rauen family are perfectly placed near the village of Thornich, on the gentle slopes of a cool, south-western hillside in middle Mosel. Harald and Maria Rauen practice conservation cultivation and their aim is to preserve the specific fruit aromas in the wine and emphasise the individuality of the vineyard. Their labels reflect the colours and texture of the slate that gives their their wines such a clear, pure minerality and freshness that is the true expression of their terroir. Winner of countless awards over the years, not just for their Riesling, but also for their Eiswein, where the sweetness of the grapes is perfectly balanced by the freshness that has become their trademark.
