  Château Puy Boyrein
France
Straddling Sauternes and Graves, the vines of Château Puy Boyrein was once part of the great Château Boyrein estate, a former manor belonging to the aristocratic de Gourgues family which served as a hunting lodge for Pope Clement before being dismantled in 1877. The Medeville family has been working the estate for seven generations. They are now committed to an environmental approach which has enabled them to gain ISO 14001 certification. Château Puy Boyrein’s eight hectares of vines are in the village of Roaillan between the Garonne and the vast forest running alongside the Atlantic. Clay-limestone soil on only 6 hectares growing largely Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with some Cabernet France.
